what is RMA about?
There is a huge gap in our health care system regarding rehab in a sports setting. People who want to return to a high demanding sport after an injury are VERY often treated with the same exercises and the same rehab framework as a 70 year old person, wanting to return to everyday life. That is not only unacceptable but also dangerous. Being pain free in everyday life or even in a few gym exercises, does not mean your body is prepared for the demands of your sport – especially if your sport includes running, sprinting, jumping and changing direction. Not only will you not have reached your previous level of performance (let alone return at a higher level) but your chances of getting injured again are increasing massively. Get a practitioner who has your end goal in mind.
Even if you’re not injured – taking your performance to the next level kind of follows the same principle. Have someone by your side who understands what qualities your sport is actually demanding from your body, sees the missing piece in your performance and knows what you need in training and – even more importantly – what you don’t need.
why me?
I care about the person behind the injury – the person behind the athlete. I care about getting you back to the sport you’re passionate about and I care about helping you reach your best level of performance in that sport. I care about your end goal. I enjoy figuring out what kind of program, exercises and advice YOU need. In my opinion, giving out the same framework with the same exercises to every single client is not what being a coach is about. It’s about seeing each client as an individual, including their personal life – meeting them where they’re at and guiding them to their individual end goal.
Just as any practitioner shouldn’t – I don’t want to make you dependent on me in the long run. Being self sufficient and knowing how to handle upcoming issues, pains and unexpected situations on your own, is the most powerful thing I can teach you. Sure, I will guide you through the process but in the end it’s you who will get out of the other side of an injury and it’s you who’s doing the work to reach the next level of your performance – and I would love to show you how.
